Laurence Corner
The 1393 is based on glasses from the Cutler and Gross archive found in the 1970s at the Laurence Corner army surplus store on Drummond Street in London. Such a military frame became an urban fashion icon in the 1960s and early 1970s. The hinges sit low so a helmet could be worn over the frame.

A London house founded in 1969 by two opticians, Graham Cutler and Tony Gross. They opened their first shop in Knightsbridge in 1971. There is no marking on the outside of the frames - a decision from the start. The frames are made in the brand's own factory in Domegge di Cadore, Italy, and part of the range in Japan; in acetate, titanium and buffalo horn.
