A red edge, as on a camera

MYKITA and Leica announced their partnership in spring 2020. On the pure steel MYKITA | LEICA models the lens edge is coated in red lacquer, a detail taken from Leica cameras, and the lacquer also reduces unwanted reflections of stray light. The lenses for the collection come from Leica Eyecare, and the frames are assembled by hand at the MYKITA HAUS in Berlin.

„We carry ML15 in Matte Silver/Leica Red Edges, with a polarised grey lens.“

Mykita

A Berlin house founded in 2003 by Harald Gottschling, Daniel Haffmans, Philipp Haffmans and Moritz Krüger. The name comes from its first premises - a former day nursery, which Germans call a "Kita" for short. The frames are still hand-assembled in Berlin, in their own workshop, because when they started nobody would manufacture what they had drawn. The house signature is a patented screwless spiral hinge, in stainless steel half a millimetre thick.
