A gradient built into the acetate itself

The shift from grey to clear isn't an applied colour - it's a property of the acetate block itself; Mykita selects the raw material so the gradient exists before the frame is even cut.

„The clear section at the bottom of the lens makes the frame read lighter than a fully grey aviator.“

Mykita

A Berlin house founded in 2003 by Harald Gottschling, Daniel Haffmans, Philipp Haffmans and Moritz Krüger. The name comes from its first premises - a former day nursery, which Germans call a "Kita" for short. The frames are still hand-assembled in Berlin, in their own workshop, because when they started nobody would manufacture what they had drawn. The house signature is a patented screwless spiral hinge, in stainless steel half a millimetre thick.
