Made for the Orchard Street window

Poppy Joel used to put the Keppe in the Orchard Street shop window to catch the eye of passers-by. Two generations later, his grandson Zack, a Moscot product designer, brought the Keppe back to the shop windows.

„We carry the Keppe in Olive Brown with Mineral Blue lenses, in size 48. In person the frame is darker, an olive green.“

Moscot

A New York family house. Hyman Moscot arrived through Ellis Island in 1899 and began selling ready-made glasses from a wooden pushcart on Orchard Street. He opened the first shop in 1915, at 94 Rivington Street. The family still runs it - the fifth generation. The model names come from Yiddish and from people in the family.
