Some brand stories begin with an idea, others with a single design, and others with a family. Moscot traces its story to Hyman Moscot, who arrived in America through Ellis Island in 1899. Its official history records the first family shop opening in 1915 at 94 Rivington Street in New York.

Heritage as a starting point

This history offers context, but cannot choose your frame for you. With a longstanding maker, it is interesting to follow how a visual language appears across different designs. Sometimes the bridge carries it, sometimes a colour, sometimes the relationship between front and temples.

Distinguish the history of a maker from the history of a particular model. A date on a logo does not mean every current frame existed then. If a silhouette or a name interests you, look for the story of that specific design.

A story that leaves room for the face

Family stories are close to us. Optika Sole has worked in Belgrade since 1968, with its own experience and a different setting. These histories are distinct, yet we understand the wish for a name to remain connected to a way of working over time.

Let a maker’s story invite your curiosity. Then try the frame, examine its details and compare it with other possibilities. Heritage can be a beautiful part of an object. Your own relationship with it begins when you wear it.
