About the brand
A New York house. Thom Browne began in 2001 with five suits, in a small by-appointment shop in the West Village. He is known for having recut the uniform - the grey suit - rather than abandoning it: shortened proportions, a closer fit. The eyewear began in 2011 with DITA, and since 2022 the house has made it itself.

The eyewear was brought back in house
The eyewear began in 2011 with DITA. Ten years later, in 2022, Thom Browne brought it back in house - few take that step in that direction.
The logic matches the suits: rather than seek a new shape, the house takes a familiar one and changes its measure. That is why Thom Browne eyewear looks classic in a photograph and never on a face.
Why the stripes run in that order
Every piece from this house carries a grosgrain ribbon in three colours - red, white and blue. It is not ornament but the mark by which the house is known without a logo. On a frame it sits on the temple, seen by whoever sits beside you, not by you in the mirror.
