About the brand
A Berlin house founded in 2003 by Harald Gottschling, Daniel Haffmans, Philipp Haffmans and Moritz Krüger. The name comes from its first premises - a former day nursery, which Germans call a "Kita" for short. The frames are still hand-assembled in Berlin, in their own workshop, because when they started nobody would manufacture what they had drawn. The house signature is a patented screwless spiral hinge, in stainless steel half a millimetre thick.

The workshop began out of necessity
When they drew their first frames in 2003, no factory would make them. Instead of changing the drawing, they set up their own production.
That decision became the rule of the house: everything is assembled in Berlin, in one building holding both the design and the machines. MYLON, a polyamide-based material and the first of its kind in eyewear, was developed there in 2010; the first collection using it was shown in September 2011.
What MYLON is
MYLON is a polyamide-based material the house developed itself, the first of its kind in eyewear. It appeared in 2010, and the first collection using it was shown a year later at the Paris fair.
