About the brand

A Swiss house founded in 2020. The collections are drawn by Jeff Solorio and John Juniper, who previously worked as designers at DITA. The name comes from the Latin for "priceless, worthy of admiration". The frames are made entirely in Japan, from custom parts rather than catalogue ones.

Shokunin

The house refers to shokunin, the Japanese idea of craft as complete devotion to the work. The frames are handmade in Japan.

Hinges, nose pads and screws are made to order for each model rather than chosen from a supplier's catalogue.

Parts are made to measure, not picked from a catalogue

Most houses assemble frames from parts in a supplier's catalogue. Akoni makes its parts to order, separately for each model.
