A family jewel

Moscot calls the Baitsim its newest family jewel and says it takes some chutzpah to wear: thick block acetate, a keyhole bridge and two-dot rivets.

„We carry the black Baitsim in size 48. In store it is fitted with a pale yellow lens that is not from the house catalogue.“

Moscot

A New York family house. Hyman Moscot arrived through Ellis Island in 1899 and began selling ready-made glasses from a wooden pushcart on Orchard Street. He opened the first shop in 1915, at 94 Rivington Street. The family still runs it - the fifth generation. The model names come from Yiddish and from people in the family.
