Parts stacked like building blocks
The Step collection is an experiment in which each part of the frame is stacked one on another. End pieces and bridges are placed freely, like building blocks, and parts in different colours and textures create an intricate palette and a trompe l'oeil.
„We carry colour No.4: a blue frame with a light blue part on one side and a green part on the other.“

Masahiro Maruyama
A Japanese eyewear house founded by the designer Masahiro Maruyama. The house calls its approach unfinished art: form is born out of questioning perfection, so the frames are deliberately asymmetric. The first collection, Dessin, was presented in October 2011, and since 2012 every new collection has been launched at the SILMO fair in Paris in September. All frames are made in Fukui prefecture, at an old-established factory in Sabae City, where eyewear has been made for over a century. The Monocle collection won the SILMO d'Or Grand Prix in 2020, and Kintsugi in 2022.
