Unfinished art

Masahiro Maruyama starts from the idea of „unfinished art” - finding beauty in the incomplete. Where classic frames are symmetrical and complete, his asymmetric frames are deliberately „unfinished”. MM-0051 draws on paintings in museums that hold an enigmatic atmosphere, and its singular circular lens gives it a new silhouette.

„We carry No.1 Black / Gold with a smoke lens.“

Masahiro Maruyama

A Japanese eyewear house founded by the designer Masahiro Maruyama. The house calls its approach unfinished art: form is born out of questioning perfection, so the frames are deliberately asymmetric. The first collection, Dessin, was presented in October 2011, and since 2012 every new collection has been launched at the SILMO fair in Paris in September. All frames are made in Fukui prefecture, at an old-established factory in Sabae City, where eyewear has been made for over a century. The Monocle collection won the SILMO d'Or Grand Prix in 2020, and Kintsugi in 2022.
