About the brand
A Hollywood house founded in 1988 by Richard Stark, Leonard Kamhout and John Bowman. It began in a Los Angeles garage, making leather jackets that could not be bought at the time. The frames are made in Japan from sterling silver, gold, ebony, buffalo horn, acetate and leather.

Out of a Los Angeles garage
Stark and Bowman started in a garage in 1988, making leather jackets they could not buy. Kamhout, a silversmith, brought the silver. The eyewear came later.
The silver and gold jewellery is still made in Los Angeles, where the house employs more than a thousand people. The eyewear is made in Japan.
A silversmith among the founders
Leonard Kamhout, one of the three founders, was a master sterling silversmith. That is why silver has been the house's main material from the start, on the frames as well.
