The hinge as a signature

NO1 are stainless steel classics in an understated, functional tradition. The openly displayed spiral hinge is the signature of MYKITA design: the technical solution must also be an aesthetic one. Handmade in Berlin.

„A clean square shape in dark grey matte steel - a serious frame that still wears as light as wire.“

Mykita

A Berlin house founded in 2003 by Harald Gottschling, Daniel Haffmans, Philipp Haffmans and Moritz Krüger. The name comes from its first premises - a former day nursery, which Germans call a "Kita" for short. The frames are still hand-assembled in Berlin, in their own workshop, because when they started nobody would manufacture what they had drawn. The house signature is a patented screwless spiral hinge, in stainless steel half a millimetre thick.
